Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2021

Leith Community Pottery has received NHS funding to run 2 FREE “CLAY THERAPY” WORKSHOPS as part of this year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival.

These will be hand building sessions, and all participants will have the chance to make their own vessel, which will be glazed and fired and returned to them at a later date.

Workshop spaces are limited and are open to self-referral for anyone living with poor mental health.

Dates are Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd May 2021, 2 – 4.30pm.

Creative activity has been shown to be an effective alternative or compliment to medication in a “social prescribing” context and these sessions are designed to help participants relax, learn, create, chat and engage on whatever terms they choose.

To date, the Pottery has engaged with over 75 people in this way and, going forward, as we ease out of Covid restrictions, we plan to expand this as we develop our community payback programme.

The venue is Leith Community Pottery, 4a Marine Esplanade, Edinburgh EH6 7LU.

Face coverings will require to be worn (unless exempt) and 1 metre physical distancing will be in place, along with hand hygiene and ventilation measures.
