Help us make pottery more accessible

At The Potter of Leith, we believe that working with clay can do more than teach a skill. It can create calm, confidence, connection and a sense of belonging. Your donation helps us offer free and subsidised pottery experiences to people living with poor mental health, social isolation, and other barriers that can make creative opportunities harder to access.

Leith Community Pottery CIC:

Giving Back to the Community

On each of our 9 week courses, we offer 1 of the 7 places available on a free or voluntary donation basis. The recommended donation is 30% of the course fee, towards material and energy costs. In general, full price course fees are used to underwrite this offer. So when you sign up as a full price participant, you are contributing towards our metal health support mission. We also offer discounted workshops to organisations supporting marginalised groups. Since 2021, we have supported over 170 individuals living either with poor mental health, low income or social isolation.

What to expect

The Impact of Pottery

At The Potter of Leith, pottery is not only about making objects. It is also about process. Working with clay encourages concentration, patience and hands-on creativity. It creates space to slow down, be present and take part in something mindful. Our workshops and courses bring people together through shared making. In that process, confidence can grow, isolation can soften and people can reconnect with themselves and others.

  • Build real confidence on the wheel
  • Understand the full ceramic process more clearly
  • Create multiple finished glazed pieces to take home
  • Develop skills you can continue growing long after the course ends
